Industrial excellence for innovative electrical charging
MAHLE chargeBIG offers companies and the public sector the "smallBOX", a high-performance AC (alternating current) charging solution with a capacity of up to 22 kW. This modular, scalable system can be deployed from a few units to several hundred charge points, to meet every need.
According to Hugues Marchand, the MAHLE chargeBIG solution revolutionizes the traditional charging station model thanks to its centralized approach. All critical components are grouped together in a single cabinet, the "chargeCLUSTER", capable of intelligently powering from 6 to 36 charging points (from 7.4 to 22 kW). This architecture makes it possible to massively deploy charge points at lower cost, while radically simplifying installation and maintenance for electricians. To validate this innovation in technical and regulatory terms, MAHLE chose Apave's expert support to secure every stage of the project.
Complying with regulations: Apave's support

To meet the requirements of French (and European) standards and regulations, MAHLE chargeBIG called on the expertise of Apave. As MAHLE chargeBIG had initially developed its products for the German market, the challenge was to adapt the smallBOX to the French market and to the regulations in force in that country. As Hugues Marchand explains: "The Apave teams carried out a feasibility analysis of the concept's technical file, with recommendations for adaptations to be made to the layout and connection architecture, to meet the standards and regulations in force in France."
He adds: "We had to learn to work in a new sector, and deal with regulations that vary greatly from one country to another. Apave's experts helped us to understand and correctly interpret the specific standards, identify any non-conformities and the associated risks. They also advised us on the most appropriate compliance solutions for our application.

These expert recommendations enabled us to adapt the concept and make it fully compliant. The benefits are twofold for MAHLE, which gains credibility with its customers and partners. "The scope of expertise covered by Apave's highly experienced teams enabled us to answer all the specific questions related to the project. Apave's analysis reassures our customers and partners alike. It provides a guarantee for our products.
In addition to this mission, the Apave Group regularly works on several of the MAHLE Group's French industrial sites to carry out regulatory inspections, mainly in the electrical field.
Buoyed by this confidence, Hugues Marchand concludes: "Apave is an independent group with a strong reputation in the professional world, particularly among electricians. We are ready to entrust them with new assignments, not least as part of our project to roll out chargeBIG solutions in other European countries."
