A cookie is a small text file issued by the server of the website you are visiting that is written to the hard drive of your computer or mobile device. The cookie contains a unique code that can be used to recognise your browser when you visit the website or on future visits. Cookies may be placed by the server of the website you are visiting or by partners with whom that website collaborates. A website's server can only read the cookies it has set itself; it does not have access to any other information on your computer or mobile device. The content of a cookie usually consists of the name of the server that placed the cookie, an expiry date and a unique encrypted code. This data is stored on your computer for a maximum of 1 year. Cookies ensure a generally easier and faster interaction between the visitor and the website (e.g. a cookie retains the consultation of a specific content and does not offer it to you again).  Cookies are also used to store your preferences, thus speeding up your subsequent access to the site and making your visits easier. In addition, they help you navigate between different parts of the website. Cookies can also be used to make the content of a website or advertising on that website more relevant to the visitor and to tailor the website to the personal tastes and needs of the visitor. The use of cookies requires your prior and explicit consent. You can always come back to this later and refuse these cookies and/or delete them at any time, by changing the settings of your browser (see point 7).
