The Apave Group is strengthening its training activities for the transport of dangerous goods (TDG) with the acquisition of APTH's activities and the creation of the first hub in France dedicated to TDG

Press release06/03/2024
Apave, an international group with more than 150 years of experience, specialising in the management of technical, environmental, human and digital risks, today announces the acquisition of 100% of the activities of APTH, a French association specialising in transport of dangerous goods (TDG) training.

The transport of dangerous goods

a market already well-known by the Apave Group

The transport of dangerous goods is not a new market for Apave. The Group already has a subsidiary specialising in this field – BVT – which offers a wide range of training courses related to the transport of dangerous goods by different modes and adapted to specific regulations (air (IATA), road (ADR), maritime (IMDG), etc.). In addition to its range of training courses, BVT has a testing laboratory approved by the French Ministry of Transport, enabling it to issue Certificates of Approval for all types of packaging intended for the carriage of dangerous goods.

APTH

a recognised player in the road transport of dangerous goods

Founded in 1975, APTH - Association Prévention Transport Hydrocarbures - is a recognised player in the road transport of dangerous goods and has a well-established reputation in this market. APTH provides professional training in compliance with the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), as well as training to prepare for the safety adviser exam. APTH is also approved by the French Ministry of Transport.

Certified DATADOCK and QUALIOPI, APTH opened Europe's first technical centre dedicated to road transport safety back in 1995. Located in Le Creusot – France, the centre offers drivers a unique learning environment: 4 km of tracks, 5 workshops and 2 loading bays are available to trainees.

With a staff of around fifty, APTH works mainly with industrial players, training providers and private individuals, and trains almost 17,000 trainees a year.

The challenges of transporting dangerous goods are constantly evolving, with strict regulations designed to ensure the safety of transport operators and users. Strengthening Apave's position in this market reflects our mission to help our customers manage their risks so as to guarantee the safety of people, property and the environment. I am delighted to welcome the APTH employees and all the associated stakeholders who are joining us.

A strategic acquisition

for the Apave Group

This acquisition will enable Apave to strengthen its leading position in occupational safety training. The combination of APTH's know-how, expertise and infrastructure with those of the Apave Group means that we can offer all our customers a broader range of services to meet their changing needs, whatever the mode of transport (air, road or sea). Apave is thus creating the first French hub of this scale.

In line with its 2025 strategic plan, Apave is confirming its ambition for sustained growth. APTH thus becomes the 19th acquisition made by the Group since the end of 2020.
