📢 APAVE is recruiting a Railway Regulatory Compliance & Authorization Manager (M/F) on a permanent contract, working remotely in Italy, with regular meetings in Milan and Pisa.
What will your day-to-day role involve?
🎯 Main Mission:
Support manufacturers, operators and suppliers within the railway industry in achieving regulatory compliance, certification and authorization objectives, ensuring adherence to safety requirements, applicable standards, and both national and European railway regulations.
🎯 Reporting Line :
Reporting to the Senior Consulting Manager / Project Director.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
- Provide regulatory expertise on European and national railway frameworks and advise clients on compliance strategies.
- Support the definition, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes throughout the entire system lifecycle.
- Assist clients in preparing safety cases, technical files and compliance evidence required by Independent Assessment Bodies (NoBo, DeBo, AsBo) and competent authorities.
- Develop certification and authorization strategies and plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs).
- Design and implement compliance processes, quality assurance frameworks and RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) management systems.
- Facilitate workshops, coordinate interactions between technical teams, assessment bodies and authorities, and provide training to clients on regulatory developments.
- Collect, analyse and consolidate the evidence required for authorization applications, and manage the submission of dossiers to the relevant authorities, including through the One-Stop Shop (OSS) portal.
- Conduct audits, document reviews and compliance assessments to identify gaps and ensure adherence to safety requirements, CENELEC standards, TSIs and applicable railway regulations.

🎯 First, your educational background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc/MSc) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering), Quality Management, or an equivalent field.
🎯 Then, your skills and experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in railway systems engineering, railway safety, or regulatory compliance, ideally within the railway sector.
Excellent knowledge of European railway regulations.
Strong understanding of the Fourth Railway Package, CSM-RA (Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment), Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs), and CENELEC standards EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129.
Experience with RAMS analysis methodologies such as RCM, FMECA, RBD, FTA, and ETA would be considered a significant advantage.
🎯 Software and Tools:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS or Polarion.
Familiarity with FTA/ETA analysis tools (such as RWB, FT+, or equivalent) would be an asset.
