COTE D’IVOIRE – PROGRAMME ASPI
The Côte d’Ivoire government sought to improve private sector company performance by promoting quality assurance processes. To that end, it receiving French government funding that was used to establish an ambitious quality consulting program, Appui au Secteur Privé Ivoirien (ASPI), or Supporting the Private Sector in Côte d’Ivoire.
Over a five-year period, Apave dispatched eight quality consultants to help selected companies deploy a quality process per the ISO 9001 (2000) guideline. More than 700 people were trained in quality assurance through ASPI. The project helped to instill a culture of quality in the subregion. Thanks largely to this project, Côte d’Ivoire is still the leader in company certification in West Africa.
