After the war, the Lebanese hospital sector was faced with many challenges particularly concerning the infrastructures and the human aspect. To this must be added a lack of control and inequality of performance and resources among most of the health institutions.
As part of an approach to improve the quality of this sector, the Public Health Ministry has adopted the system of approvals already existing in Europe and Australia. Several standards were drawn up and foreign organisations directed their experience towards improving the hospital sector.
Our Lebanese subsidiary was therefore selected to be an auditing body with three other entities to audit all Lebanese public and private health institutions between now and the end of 2011.
The audits are now in progress and the corresponding reports are being sent to hospitals and to the Ministry. They contain all the findings made during the audit visits. All the Lebanese hospitals have seen a major change in services and structures. The approvals mission therefore seems to be producing encouraging results for the benefit of all.
